Supporting Youth in Agriculture

Great Plains Ag Credit has long been a supporter of youth in agriculture, providing both monetary and service time contributions to area livestock shows that involve FFA and 4-H students.
Many of these students come from agricultural families and, with the right opportunities, may someday make their living by farming or ranching right here in the Panhandle.
Everyone involved with these programs comes away with an appreciation for hard work and knowledge of the care necessary to produce a quality animal; the participants are all winners.
Great Plains Ag Credit staff members donate their time to help out with local shows. Past monetary donations from the association were made to buyers groups. In an effort to support more of the shows and their exhibitors, Tyler Randolph, a Great Plains loan officer, contacted each show board to see what type of contribution would be of most assistance. A majority responded that their concession is the main source of funds for youth support throughout the year. The group leaders use proceeds of the concession to fund awards, travel, and equipment among other needs. For 2012, Great Plains pledged $1,000 seed money to the concessions at 17 shows within our chartered territory.
We wish good luck to each of the exhibitors, their leaders, and the workers who make it all possible every year. And thanks to Tyler Randolph, his co-chair Brittany Borden, and Great Plains staff for helping us Support Youth in Agriculture!
